Questions Answered On This Page:
A blessing can be defined as something good in your life you're thankful for. And that's the definition we use. The blessings we're tweeting are simply little reasons to be happy, like "sloppy kisses" or "playing catch." They're quick reminders to think about something good.
A while back, I was unemployed and had some other big worries hanging over my head. I was feeling pretty down and things seemed pretty bleak. But one day, I was sitting in front of my computer, watching a Sesame Street podcast on iTunes with my 4-year-old son on my lap, and thought "how can I be miserable right now?" I realized I hadn't been counting my blessings, because that moment was a blessing. And it snapped me out of a deep funk.
As I shared that experience with friends, I found it resonated with people. I also came to realize that there were hundreds of little things that make us happy that we can become blind to when we're worrying about big, scary issues. So I thought it would be fun to do a site about them. The "Tweeted" part came from the idea that shorter is better. We shouldn't need two paragraphs to explain it. We should be able to express it in the limited space of a Twitter message. So making everything tweeted was a personal challenge to communicate joy succinctly.
I saw Scientology ads. Is this a Scientology site?
This site is not affiliated with any religion and we do not promote any religion. All we promote is the view that there are little joys in life that we tend to overlook, and that they need to be highlighted. That's something universal that we believe everyone of every religion can get behind.
But, because "blessings" is part of our name and our focus is "happiness," those keywords sometimes trigger religiously themed ads from the Google robots that pick ads to put on our pages. We don't pick the ads. If we picked the ads, they would all be for bacon.
Can I use a picture or video from your site?
USING PHOTOS: Most of the pictures we use are stock photos that have been licensed to us for use on our site. We're not allowed to redistribute them. On the other hand, we do provide linked photo credits. You can go to the same site we licensed the photo from and get your own license to use that photo. In many cases those licenses are free, but usually require you to follow certain rules in using the photo. So, if you follow our links in the photo credits, get your own license to use the photo, and follow the rules of that license, you're welcome to use our modifications to it (i.e. the "blessing") so long as you credit the blessing to TweetedBlessings.com and link back to us.
USING VIDEOS: When we display a video, we link back to the original source site (YouTube, Revver, wherever). Follow that link. If they offer embedding code for the video, then follow their rules to embed the video in your site. If you want to use our blessing graphic or blessing text with the video, please credit the blessing to TweetedBlessings.com and link back to us.
LINKING TO US: Please do not link directly to images (i.e. the .jpg or .gif) files. If you want to link to one of our pages, please, be our guest.
